Weekends away from school are always refreshing, calming, and rejuvenating, especially when shared with a close friend.
Asheville: my home away from home. It's fairly close to home, but for some reason it always feels so right when I'm there, right in the middle of its eclectic buildings and artsy folk. Especially when I sip my liquid truffles at The Chocolate Lounge...
...and indulge in rich soups and fancy drinks at The Laughing Seed cafe...
...and, of course, a little Chris Thile doesn't hurt...
Going home is always nice too- seeing my family, my dogs, and my fireplace. Getting to use a full-size kitchen* and dance around the kitchen to Disney music with my sister...
and, of course, a little field frolicking is always necessary...
*Blood Orange Olive Oil Cake from Smitten Kitchen:
I made the topping with Greek yogurt, and used plain Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt- it made the cake very moist and delicious!
